چکیده
Speeding up Discrete Event Simulations (DESs) is a broad research field. Promising Parallel Simulation (PDES) approaches with optimistic and conservative synchronisation schemes have emerged throughout the years. However, in area of real-time simulation, PDESs are rarely considered. This caused by complex problem fitting parallel executed DES models to clock. Hence, this paper gives an extensive review existing for PDESs. It introduces metric compare their capabilities determine whether they can be used soft or firm simulation. Examples given on how apply evaluate using synthetic real-world examples. The results investigation reveal that no final answer if simulation as are. boundary conditions were defined, which allow use-case specific evaluation certain DES. Using in-depth knowledge lead predictability behaviour run.

متن کاملSuppressing Roughness of Virtual Times in Parallel Discrete-Event Simulations
In a parallel discrete-event simulation (PDES) scheme, tasks are distributed among processing elements (PEs) whose progress is controlled by a synchronization scheme. For lattice systems with short-range interactions, the progress of the conservative PDES scheme is governed by the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation from the theory of nonequilibrium surface growth. Although the simulated (virtual) tim...
متن کاملOn Critical Path Analysis of Parallel Discrete Event Simulations
Several protocols have been proposed to synchronize the logical processes (LP’s) of a parallel discrete event simulation (PDES). While most protocols have been known to perform well under certain conditions, the general observation has been that the performance of protocols is sensitive to the application being simulated, sometimes even to a particular instance of it. In this technical note, we...

ACKNOWLEDGMENT I am greatly indebted to Dr. Richard Fujimoto for his guidance and support throughout my master's study. It was under his mentoring that I developed a focus and became interested in parallel and distributed discrete event simulations. Special thanks go to Dr Kalyan Perumalla. As my co-advisor, he helped and encouraged me all along the way. I also thank Dr. Santosh Pande for his i...
